Accomplished Expert Witness on Internet Related Litigation and an Adviser to Technology Startups

My consulting engagements have included the negotiation and
sale of intellectual property including trademarks, copyrights,
licenses and patents, both issued and provisional.
Engagements included start-up companies, venture capital backed
companies and companies with more than $5 billion in annual
revenues in the educational, medical and computer industries.
Engaged by local and state economic development organizations to
implement a wide variety of economic development projects
centered around the development of regional venture capital
development and the creation of business incubators.
Engaged by the State of Florida in the allocation of $16 million for
the creation of statewide organizations for the commercialization of
technology from University research and the implementation of
entrepreneurship programs for the development of new businesses.
Appointed by the Governor of Kansas to a 4-member
executive task force to examine the status of technology
commercialization of more than $100 million of federally
sponsored research at four major Kansas Universities.
Mr. Sherwood was chairman of the task force and the principle
author of the final report, and he presented the task force’s
findings to the Governor’s representatives and the Kansas Senate.
Engaged by the state of California and the Federal
Department of Commerce for the creation of a state sponsored
multi-million dollar venture capital program and the development
and five year funding of organizations to create new businesses
through the commercialization of innovative technologies.
Engaged by a Cyprus based venture capital firm to provide
business plan analysis and to provide recommendations on the
firm’s investments in high technology Israeli companies.

Identified, licensed and commercialized environmental energy
efficient technologies developed in England, Holland and
Switzerland. Co-founded business and raised venture capital
money for the commercialization and manufacture of these energy
efficient products in the USA and sold these products in more than
40 different states. Fortune magazine called this 100 person
company one of the most innovative businesses in California.
Founded and chaired the first committee at University of Missouri
Kansas City to commercialize technology developed from public
grants by university faculty. Several businesses were developed
through this activity and UMKC received equity interests in these
businesses as a part of the commercialization process.
Reviewed new patent applications for filing and reviewed current
applications for additional country filings and filing and reviewed
current applications for additional country filings and maintenance
including valuation of royalty fees.
Developed, performed the design and implementation of proof
of concept demonstration, co-patented and commercialized a
technology for efficient separation of metal oxides through
centrifugation and separation by curvilinear plates after
conversion of calcium carbonate to calcium oxide.
Recruited as a part of a team 12 Silicon Valley entrepreneurs and
technologists who were provided $2 million by the Australian
government to develop businesses indigenous to the strengths of
Australia.
