Special Kansas Engagement

Kansas Governor Sebelius appointed me to lead a specialized team of four professionals to evaluate the policies governing technology commercialization, intellectual property, patents, and licensing across Kansas’s universities. Our detailed findings and recommendations, aimed at improving the transfer of technology from academia to the private sector, were presented in a comprehensive report, which we delivered to a joint session of the Kansas Congress.

My primary responsibility was developing a comprehensive technology master plan for Kansas, which strategically integrated key resources from the private sector, public sector, and academic institutions. A significant focus was leveraging the strengths of the four major universities in Kansas, with goals to stimulate job creation and create incentives to retain scientists, technology graduates, and engineers within the state after completing their education.
